CFC AZUL joined the USL Premier Development League (PDL) for the 2012 season, becoming the only soccer franchise based in Connecticut. This May the Azul will begin their second season in the USL’s PDL, which is the top amateur soccer league in America. The PDL consisted of 65 teams during the 2011 season competing from four regions across the country. CFC is built slightly different from most PDL franchises. The club already has a very successful 70-plus team youth system in place. The PDL team will become the natural pinnacle team for the CFC pyramid. The AZUL will give its top CFC players the opportunity to return to CFC during and after their college years. The PDL is seen as a ‘shop window’ for professional clubs looking to discover and identify aspiring professional players who may enter the MLS Super Draft in future years. Many of the players currently playing Major League Soccer and elsewhere began their careers in the PDL when they were competing as an elite college or high school athlete. Over the past three years, 111 players with PDL experience have been drafted in the MLS SuperDraft, which is more than 70 percent of the selections. Azul games will showcase the top level of amateur soccer in Connecticut and are the most-exciting and affordable form of family entertainment during the summer months.
About Our Club
CFC Passion is the top team in the CFC girls pyramid structure. The team plays in the Women’s Premier Soccer League. The WPSL is an independent national league whose main focus is on the development of highly competitive premier women’s soccer teams. The WPSL also makes every effort to bring quality soccer to all levels of the community and to promote the stature of female athletes as role models for our youth.
The Connecticut Football Club (CFC) is comprised of several CFC branch clubs throughout the state. Modeled on the highly successful CFC UNITED Girls program, CFC AZUL is being created to put together the most talented boy’s players in the CFC program into one pool that will train and play together. The CFC UNITED GIRLS program produces over 16/17 college scholarships per age group and our goal on the boy’s side is to emulate this success by surrounding our boys with current D1, D2 and D3 College Coaches. CFC Azul Juniors will be fielding teams at the U14, U15 & U16 age groups in its inaugural year.As you head down the pathway to college it is very important to learn that it is VITAL to participate in a club that is tied into the college community.
“It’s not how good you are but who knows how good you are!”
You need to be able to ask your coaches to pick up the phone and talk to any college coach in the country plus you need to play in front of as many college coaches as possible and that only happens if your team is successful. We have also found that putting likeminded families together, all pushing for the SAME goal is the only way to successfully maneuver the next 3/4 years.
